Twitter users want customer service

“Airline companies are sending a lot of tweets. They sent over 25,000 in July alone, but users only tweet at these companies for a few reasons. Largely, users want customer service — 86.2 percent of users follow airlines for that reason. Only .02 percent want a social conversation and only 1.6 percent tweet about airline food and entertainment.”

Scribbal’s article on our Airlines Monthly Twitter Report points out and continues:

Delta is still number 1 when it comes to the volume of tweets they receive from users (23,890 tweets in July), but Air Asia‘s user interaction has skyrocketed. They went from receiving almost 11,000 tweets in June to over 20,000 tweets in July. The numbers for most followed airline also shifted. In June, KLM held the top spot with 168,060 followers across all of their accounts, but in July, TAM Airlines took over with 225,952 followers.”

Yes Delta remains in top spot but we are also not able to see how airlines handle customer issues in direct message (DM). As long as airlines tries to hide or cover-up their customers service activities we will never be able to provide 100% accurate statistics.
